Failure to learn Science - same as grade school knowledge (misconception in video).
Misconceptions from Harvard for seasons and phases of the moon.
Specific teaching needed to 'unteach' misconceptions.
Does adding technology without changing pedagogy improve learning?
Students need to apply what knowledge they acquire.
Reverse flow of homework and classwork to improve student learning - reverse the process. Quicker with feedback to correct misconceptions in the brain.
We think:
This is a very good idea. Students can prepare ahead of time and read before hand and get background knowledge. See lectures in university before you actually go to listen to them. (Jamie always did his readings in university). (We didn't believe him).
Redefine role of children in the classroom: children should teach other children, get ideas from each other, screen casting can be used to make a presentation to solve a problem. BY CHILDREN FOR CHILDREN. THIS CAN BE MORE EFFECTIVE THAN LEARNING FROM A TEACHER. PYP is very strong in this!!
Good research skills:
Globalizing curriculum
Connect with others
Teach empathy and perspective
