It takes some minutes to open "StudyWiz". I think some people might feel like to smoking. Please show your patience. ^^

    VERY IMPORTANT BEGINNING NOTES!!!!!
    - StudyWiz can only be loaded using FireFox, because of plug-ins and other configurations.
    - Never use the Back button on FireFox because you'll leave the entire StudyWiz website. Rather, use the Back button within StudyWiz.

    AND NOW THE NOTES...

StudyWiz has greatly changed from last year. There are three interfaces - primary, middle years, and standard. We will probably be using the standard one. They did not put individual and team folders into the primary section. Therefore, whatever you post for one group will go into the entire grade. The new version will come in January and there will be individual and team folders in that. Until then, we will all use the standard interface.

The primary interface is very user-friendly and fun-looking. The information is in the same database. You can simply decide in which interface you feel like using. A lot of schools are starting kids on the primary interface, regardless of grade, because it is so user-friendly and helpful.

    Cool Features:
You can change the look of your homepage.
Now you can go straight into your grade from the homepage, using "Learning."

    Learning:
You can set a homepage that will pop up for particular grade. For example, you could add the Essential Agreements, etc, anything that you want to load every single time the student loads the page. You can also get an overview of student statistics, to see what your students are currently doing in StudyWiz (how many times they've loaded files, etc.)
There is a "Developmental Workbook" section under learning that allows children to map out their learning towards a goal. It called a "Learning Plan."
As you scroll farther down, StudyWiz looks like what you did last year - individual folders, team folders, etc.

    Tools:
View Students / Class - Will show a list of students who are currently in your class
Blogs - Teachers and students will all have their own individual blogs

    Settings:
To change your password, click on Settings. Enter your old password, your new password (twice), and the school's telephone. Click on Apply.
Next click on "Edit Home Page Configuration." 6 Boxes will appear, containing 6 pop-down menus. When you click on each pop-down menu, a list of choices appear from which you may change that box. For example, maybe you want the middle top box to show "Latest Assessments." Perhaps you want the top left hand corner to show "Latest Bookmarks." Make sure Latest Activities, Calendar, and Latest Bulletins are all on your homepage.

Calendar now is very clunky. As of January, everything will be sync'ed with iCal. At the moment, you have to individually add dates to the calendar. This calendar is for only one specific class, and thus is private.

Class List - You can see a complete list of students by clicking on Learning / Grade / View Student Reports, or Tools / View Student Reports / Grade. Please check to make sure your list is correct according to your register.

    Creating Activities:
You must always create a folder, and then drop the activities in. You cannot create an activity and then go searching for a place to put it. So it's best to create folders and subfolders first so that you can always have places to drop your activities.

Featured Activities: Instead of having students searching through all the folders, you can make things "featured activities," so that the students will be able to find them quickly and easily. Do this by clicking on the "Featured Activity" check box, which is located at the bottom of the creation title screen (where you are entering the date, the publication title, etc.) When the item expires, its status as a featured item also expires.

All writing in StudyWiz is now rich-text, so you'll always be able to embed, hyperlink, make beautiful writing, etc.

Information - This is general information that you will have showing whenever the students visit this section. It's your class homepage. So you can change this, for example, for every unit of inquiry. When the grade 1s open their section, they will see Communities, while grade 2s will be seeing China. You can also embed information from the internet. For example, you could link to today's weather, should you be teaching grade 5 wild weather. This is simply a very cool homepage.

    Content:
There is now a search function with which students can look for specific information. One search bar is grade specific, while the other is for searching all of your (teacher) materials.

    Folders:
Title Folder - For the entire class
Individual Folders - For specific children
Team Folders - For groups of children
NOTE: You must create your folders in the correct area, or else you'll have problems. For example, if you know that you will have teams, make sure you set them up early.

Deleting Folders: You are only able to delete / edit folders that you have personally created. This is done with the icon beside the creation icon. Then you will load a new page that will have a delete or save button.

Remember when you make an object, you need to publish it, or else the students will be unable to view what you have created.
