    Student Learning 2009-10

Here we are at the start of another school year with a bit of time to reflect on our growth and use of technology to support student learning. We grew by leaps and bounds last year and the momentum will only continue to grow. In thinking about this year, what would you like to accomplish in your classroom where technology can support and enhance student learning?

For example you might want to collaborate with another classroom somewhere else in the world for a particular unit, or perhaps you see students taking a more active role in instructing the class using technology tools, or you plan to include more mind mapping or similar activities, or you want to achieve a streamlined system of electronic communication with students, or you want students to publish work to a wider community, or help students become more effective presenters, or.... a million other ideas.... This is purely a brainstorming activity to get us thinking, nothing is written in stone!

Please enter a comment below and share at least one thing that you would like to accomplish this year. Sharing may spark ideas for colleagues, help Ann collaborate more effectively with teachers, and celebrate the diversity and growing expertise of our staff.

Last year the students in grades 6 - 8 began to use iWeb for their developmental workbooks. There were many trials and many errors, but in the end I was pleased with the results. This year, I want to take what I learned and improve upon last year's results, because last year the results were positive, and this year I want the results to be *very* positive.

My students presented scientific reports based on experiments they designed using imovie. Although there were a few hiccups to work through, I think that using this method of presentation achieved so many more outcomes than just an understanding of the scientific method and conventions of writing in science. I would like to continue to persue this avenue and try and improve on it further.

    Eunice OngAug 10, 2009 11:40 AM
