    To drag a table around click on the table . The top left button can be clicked and the table dragged around.
    To add another table click on "tables" and select the type of table you want.

    if you would like to change the color of your chart, you may go to the inspector, choose the chart and then dray the color to you chart. it worked!

    What ever you put on your header rows it will repeat
    Style draws (left hand bottom) you can style your table
    You can change the inside lines by going to the inspector and click on the table box. You need to highlight the area you want changed first.
    On the left hand side at the top you can double click on sheet. Now you can name your sheet. Then you double click on table just below and you can name your table. This is important because you can have lots of table on the one page.
    On the left hand corner up the top if you click on name the computer will then put the name of your table into your table.
    To make a second table go to the table icon at the top and click on it. Then select a type of table and you will see a second table on your page.
    Now to move that table click box in left hand top corner and drag table to its place. The thick blue line that moves will help you line up your tables.
    To move between cells click on any arrow key
    You can also press enter for down

    FORMULAE:

    There will be a 2nd session on using Numbers' more advanced functions. However, if you'd like a heads-up on using formulae, I'll discuss this now.

    Today I showed you how to total a column. This was by typing =sum(C1:C3), which will add columns C1, C2, and C3. You can also click in the cell below all of your data and click INSERT / FUNCTION / SUM. This, though, will add all data going up to the header, so if you have left some extra cells with data you don't want to be counted, you'll have a bit of a problem. If you are worried about this, then just do what I showed you --- type =sum( and then highlight the cells you want, and press ENTER.

    Andrei found something new! He discovered that you can resize the entire table in a similar way in which you can add or delete rows and columns. The problem comes in when you accidently click on the white handles instead of the grey. This will take as many rows and columns as you have - which might be dozens - and will make them so tiny that you can't read any of the data and the grey handles disappear, so you can't even add or delete columns.

    Lesson learned? When you are trying to add or delete handles, make sure you are dragging the GREY handles.

    Formating go to toolbar (numbers,$....) or sell inspector
    To arrange numbers in ascending or descending order you need to type at least two numbers and drag, same with dates.

    Numbers - Blank - click view - click show view print - you then move your table onto one page from left to right and from bottom to top.

    Resize the table: bottom right makes it larger and smaller (increasing and decreasing the number of columns) - click top right corner - see little squares and then resize keeping the same number of columns

    Use the format bar or the inspector to do all your fomatting

    Name your table - sheet and table on the left side

    Cell borders: highlight, change the type of line, the thickness, the colour

    Entering data: Hightlight the cells you want to enter data in - choose the type of data from the inspector using cell inspector

    To create charts: hightlight the column(s) you want included in the chart - click chart - select the type of chart that you want and click

    To add pictures etc - just drop and drag.

    MOVING FROM NUMBERS TO PAGES AND KEYNOTE:

    I have just copied a table and a chart from Numbers to both Keynote and Pages, and they both pasted perfectly.

    I did not highlight the table. Rather, I clicked on the table so that the white handles appeared. Then I clicked COMMAND+C. Going into Pages and Keynote, I clicked COMMAND+V to paste them in.

    To record on computer, go to SMARTBOARD TOOLS (blue box looking icon on the task bar) | open | recorder. It will record the audio with the built in mic and also whatever happens on your screen.

    To repeat numbers, or to create patterns of information:

    1. If you want 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 going all the way down the column. Type 1 into the first cell. When you click on it again, a tiny white circle will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the cell. Click and drag in the direction that you want to fill.

    2. If you want a repeating pattern, such as 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 3,6,9,12, or Sept 1, Sept 3, Sept 5, Sept, going all the way down a row or column... Type the first 2 or 3 data into the first few cells. When you click on it again, a tiny white circle will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the cell. Click and drag in the direction that you want to fill.

    Charts - just click the "chart" button. A table will automatically pop up when you choose the kind you want. Just modify the data and away you go. You can customize details in the inspector. Even cooler is you can double click one piece of a pie chart, and pull it out or separate it out (thank you Matthew).

    Alpha tool (a little button at the top, and if it's not there, customize your toolbar by adding it there) will get rid of background in an image you might want to use. If you have, for example, a picture with a black background, you can erase the black and just have the leaf from the foreground.

    To copy cell contents (repeat), just highlight the cell and select the white dot in the lower right hand corner. Drag that down and the contents will repeat. IF you want to fill the cells with a pattern, you need to highlight the cells that already hold the pattern (2-3 cells or whatever) and click the white dot in the corner and drag. If you fill with a pattern, it not only recognizes numerical patterns, but will also notice formatting patterns (a black 1, red 2, black 3, red, 4).

    ADDING CHARTS USING ROWS

    You can add charts whose ranges lie completely within rows. To do this, simply highlight the rows in question (and you can have multiple rows) and click on the Chart button. The main issue is which chart to choose -- choosing stacked charts will make one big chart, which is what the problem had been.
